Meghan Markle’s cooking show With Love, Meghan dropped on Netflix to much fanfare, and despite coming in for some harsh criticism it was renewed for a second series. But what will become of the rest of the Sussexes’ deal with the streaming giant?
Back in 2020, having stepped back from senior roles in the Royal Family and in need of earning a living, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a very lucrative deal with Netflix to make exclusive documentaries and factual entertainment shows.
New terms to the deal give the Sussexes and Netflix a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects” which means that the streaming service gets first choice on any of the couple’s future projects. However, it was rumoured that the new terms meant that Netflix was pulling away from them.

Meghan has now spoken about the deal at the Fortune Most Powerful Women summit in Washington DC, where she compared her Netflix deal to the Obamas’ and addressed whether there would be any more With Love, Meghan in the pipeline.

Speaking at the Fortune Most Powerful Women summit in Washington DC on Tuesday, 14 October, Meghan tried to put to bed any mutterings that her new Netflix deal terms showed the streamer was not keen to continue a close partnership.

Comparing it to Barack and Michelle Obama’s deal, she said: “My husband and I were in an overall deal with Netflix, and then not just similar to Higher Ground in the Obamas’ deal, once that had come to its term, the extension of it, which was such a incredible sign of the strength of our partnership, was now being in a first look deal.
