A recent study published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity has revealed a significant link between plant-based diets and a reduced risk of developing multiple chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. The research analyzed data from over 400,000 adults aged 35 to 70 across six European nations and found that individuals who consumed a higher amount of plant-based foods experienced a 32% decrease in the likelihood of developing two or more chronic conditions simultaneously, a phenomenon known as multimorbidity. This protective effect was most pronounced in adults under 60 years old but extended to those in their sixties and beyond, highlighting the importance of dietary choices across the lifespan.
